Pilates is a complex system of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates at the beginning of the 20th century. The methodology is based on the principles of yoga and other Eastern practices.
Pilates exercises allow you to qualitatively improve a person’s movement, posture and strengthen the muscular corset.
The main difference between Pilates and other types of physical exercise is the slow execution of exercises, thanks to which you can use all the muscles without harm to health and overexertion. Exercises are selected in such a way that the load on the muscles is distributed evenly.
The main attention in the system is paid to control over the technique of performing exercises and correct breathing. The quality of the exercises in Pilates is much more important than their quantity. Due to the lack of impact loads, Pilates can be practiced by older people or those who have certain restrictions on sports.
This system is suitable for almost everyone and has no restrictions on gender or age. Exceptions are medical contraindications to health gymnastics, which you should consult a doctor about.
