The city of Apia (APIA) became the capital of Samoa (Samoa) for the simple reason that there is no more city in this state. The population of the capital is about 40 thousand inhabitants. APIA is located on the territory of Atollah Nolu (upolu), the most densely populated in the entire archipelago. Tourists are surprised that almost the entire population is easily explained in English. It’s just that here it is considered the second state language.
The buildings that are considered attractions were erected since the mid -eighteenth century. Basically, these are religious monuments. The main of them is the Catholic Church – really inspiring respect in size. A little less than her, but by no means no less popular, the Christian Church of the Congregationalists (Crypt part -time) and the Anglican Church, which is lush, rich in decoration.
In general, APIA is a modern city, quite capable of receiving guests well. It is felt more European than the islandine style in architecture, and in everyday life. It is known that in APIA the famous Robert Lewis Stevenson, the author of the “Treasure Island”, the Museum – the Writer’s House, is located four kilometers from the city lived and worked for several years.
